Description

The Role: Head of SHEQ – CMIOSH.

Location: National role so work from home

Salary: Circa £65-75,000 plus car allowance, 20% bonus, health.

This is a new role for a full fibre, client side telecoms network company and we’re looking to bring someone in and sit in an overriding role to ensure best practise when it comes to HSEQ compliance across the business.

It’s large scale network infrastructure build so you would own all aspects of SHEQ linked to the construction and delivery of the network and then would also own compliance and quality. This is a national level management role, with a big focus on strategy so your leadership ability is going to be important and plan A is to bring someone from telecoms network build, with plan B being someone from one of the other utilities.

The company are well funded and offer stability plus growth – key things in the current telecoms market, so we need a head of department to join the business and make sure everything is in order by way of HSEQ / SHEQ standards and compliance and guide the build managers and civils supervisors who will be boots on the ground across the patches.

Much of the remit will be to review and then implement process as while the company have been using a consultant in the role to date, the time is right to bring in permanent resource to own and drive the function long term.

Ideally, we’d be looking to bring someone in who is chartered level IOSH (CMIOSH) but are happy to talk with SHEQ leaders that can demonstrate the equivalent level experience from telecoms and possibly, utilities.

We are open minded about location as this role will work from home and then assumed business travel as and when needed but an advantage would be a Midlands base – but we are open on that within reason.

The attitude in the business is that compliance / quality of the build would be key and it’s following legislation / guidelines in accordance with NRSWA, Traffic Management Act and the Highways Act.

The position is a new one, so you’ll have a lot of influence to shape how things will work, so this is going to suit someone who can think on the feet and work alongside a respected and highly knowledgeable build deployment team.

This means a lot of opportunity for the right person, as you would get a lot of flexibility as to how things will work, and the position reports directly to C-Level.

Role will offer £5,000 car allowance, alongside solid benefits including a discretionary 20% bonus and private health etc.
