Lead Systems Engineer – API Management
Leeds (hybrid working)
£93k – £108k plus NHS benefits
You’re a good Systems Engineer, you’ve lead teams, managed large scale projects, earned decent cash – is that still doing it for you?
Or is the thought of yet another commercial assignment boring you to tears? Are finance APIs not getting you up in a morning? Are you searching for that elusive beast “job satisfaction”?
In your new Systems Engineer role you’ll have job satisfaction in spades.
Working for the tech side of the NHS you’ll lead their API work programme with the ultimate aim being to connect hundreds of digital service providers with the relevant end user; whether that’s an operating theatre, dentist’s office or patient in an accessible and efficient manner.
This is a big job, we know this, but it’s also a DevOps role you can really get your teeth into and it’s going to affect everyone in the UK. This is the job you’ll be able to look back on in years to come and say “I made that happen”.
You’ll supported by a multi-disciplinary DevOps team across systems, product and delivery plus we have a wide variety of vendors we work closely with so there are plenty of resources at your disposal. This isn’t your typical public service job full of red tape, you’ll be given free rein to shape the DevOps function to suit you and you’ll be the one setting the standards for third party integrations.
As you will be the decision maker within the systems engineering function we will need you to be able to point to examples of technical leadership (managing around 30+ people) across large IT transformation projects in your past. You’ll need and strong DevOps background with in-depth knowledge of a specific technical specialism although we are open to application area (such as AWS, Python, C#, Splunk) and know your way around Cloud based technologies.
Your employer is focused on using data and technology to improve the NHS. You’ll be helping people get the best care quickly, allowing greater research collaborations for medical breakthroughs and improving the lives of the staff working in the healthcare sector. Not many technical roles come with that level of good karma.
So if you’re looking for a job that has a real world positive impact or you’re bored of the commercial hamster wheel this Lead Systems Engineer role is going to be the ideal move for you.
