Description

The Role: Core Fibre Network Supervisor

Location: Across the UK but a Midlands base would be good.

Rate: £300 per day plus accommodation and business mileage.

Contract duration is a minimum 3 months but good chance of extension through 2025.

This is a new position working for a tier one contract partner in association with one of the main ISP’s and this is a leadership role, tasked with managing teams of fibre engineers / splicers who are looking at the deployment, maintenance and operation of the national core fibre network.

The supervisor needs to come from that core fibre network background although the role now isn’t hands on, and is pure supervision to run the national teams and make sure all results are uploaded and verified to reporting systems.

You’ll be assigning tasks, managing schedules and making sure resource is optimised. The engineers will be based around the UK so you’ll need to be good with time and diary management and the position will involve a significant amount of travel.

You’ll use your own vehicle and business mileage will be reimbursed. Accommodation will be paid for and provided when needed by the client.

Key points for the role:

Qualifications:

  • Strong experience in fibre optic core network operations.
    • Thorough understanding of Protocols, standards, and testing equipment (OTDR, ILM, PMD/CD testing)
  • Strong knowledge of fibre optic systems, splicing techniques, and testing equipment.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing field teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to field sites on a national basis as required.

Virgin Media network knowledge would be an advantage but isn’t essential.
